The Diocese of Vancouver Island (later Victoria) is officially established, marking the beginning of Catholic ministry in the region.
Bishop Modeste Demers arrives and begins mission work among Indigenous communities and early settlers.
Catholic missionaries, including Bishop Charles Seghers and Fr. Augustin Brabant, establish missions across Vancouver Island and coastal communities.
The Diocese of Victoria is formally incorporated, strengthening its administrative and pastoral structure.
The territory becomes known as the Archdiocese of Victoria (later returning to diocesan status).
The diocese becomes a suffragan of the Archdiocese of Vancouver and continues to grow its parishes, schools, and ministries.
Multiple parishes are founded across Vancouver Island as Catholic populations grow.
The Diocese serves over 90,000 Catholics across Vancouver Island and the Gulf Islands, offering Masses in several languages and actively engaging in reconciliation, outreach, and education.
